This series recounts their adventures as they struggle to make the world accept them, while battling villains like Magneto, Apocalypse and the genocidal robots known as the Sentinels.
I remember back in when this show debuted, I thought it was one of the best cartoons on the air, along with "Batman: The Animated Series".
The characters had great powers but no one was so incredibly powered that they couldn't get knocked down and knocked around.
Plus they were always getting on each others nerves. As cool as Wolverine and Gambit were, I always held great fondness for Cyclops and Beast, I guess because I admired Cyclops for being so stalwart and steadfast and Beast for being so damn smart, laid back and intelligent.
Professor Xavier, Storm, Jean, and Jubilee rounded out the cast of heroes with their own powers and self-doubts and dreams.
Well, actually the only character who probably didn't benefit from the series was Jean Grey, who for some strange reason was always fainting in action scenes.
I'm guessing the writers simply didn't have a good grasp of her character or a strong idea of how to make her powers look cool and dynamic compared to the weather controlling Storm, high flying super tanker Rogue or even fire work shooting Jubilee.
Sinister during the 2nd season along with the usual stock villains of racist Americans. The first 3 seasons were probably the best, after that it kind of started to wane.
Also I regret that Colossus and Night-Crawler were not regular members of the cast, as Night-Crawler was a very soulful character and Colossus, well, he's just so damn cool.
But these complaints are very minor in light of what was otherwise one of the best comic book to cartoon adaptations ever to air. The X-Men later made some guest appearances on "Spider-Man", which had a lot of promise and brighter animation but ultimately squandered its potential.

Of course, this scenario is team-leader Storm's worst nightmare! The X-women figure out how to work as team to dig their way through monsters and cave-ins.
Unfortunately the problems that beset this series continue in this volume. A special all-female cast team ends up running through some pretty bland superhero fare.
It seems like casting a comic book with an X-Women team would create the opportunity to do something unique with the X-Men title, but that opportunity is never realized.
Roland Boschi's panels, I believe, attempt to convey something of the claustrophobic conditions of the cave system, but unfortunately the dark small panels just don't create much reason to linger on the artwork.
At the end of the day, I would recommend this book to X-Fans who've read this series up to now. This book delivers a similar self-contained adventure starring some of the best characters in the Marvel universe.

Arguably the most focused X-Men team, despite differences, Storm, Rachel, Psylocke, Monet and Jubilee take to the battlefield again, this time up against a Force of Nature with something of a malevolent streak.
Jubilee also has a significant role, but more as backup; encountering Krakoa is similar distress and then warning Henry McCoy and giving the team in the field with her own insights.
There is a suitable amount of action, narrow escapes and determination, but the principal theme is one of the team looking out for each and despite all of their spats, different approaches and all being very spikey individuals, there is an underlying bond which seems stronger for the trials.
The art work produces grand set-pieces of explosive action, and considering a fair amount of the story takes place underground produces subtle effects needed to convey this environment.
Unlike the rest who have striking individualistic trademark features Monet and Betsy Psylocke can look a bit inter-changeable at times, but artist and writer have put enough touches in make sure the reader is aware of them as individuals.
Not a new theme, but with the verve and zest for action that are the themes of this X-Men run, this is another enjoyable volume.
Very poignant. Was it a ghost, was Storm dreaming? Anyway, recommended for those who have been following this run, and also works very well as a stand-alone, as long as you have some X-Men knowledge.
