Don't tell anyone but I found myself watching it one of those times and got quite a few laughs and I am in my late 60s. Antonio Banderas has the perfect voice and accent to play the pirate and villain and SpongeBob is always funny along with the other main characters, Squidward, Patrick and Mr.
Krabs whoah I am revealing way to much of my personal knowledge about this series. Definitely a funny movie and one that is probably worth purchasing if you have young children or Grandchildren since they will want to watch it over and over again.
I've been busting up with my fiance watching this movie, what a blast. Love the show, the Hasslehoff movie and this was definitely no disappointment.

Also anyone complaining about the "subpar" pirate actor is gooning - it's deliberate and Spongebob has always had their actors perform like this. Since Patchy the Pirate's first performance all the way up to this.

SpongeBob is devastated, however when he doesn't get the job, even though he feels that he is rightfully due because of his work record, all because his boss thinks he's a kid.
So he and Patrick end up tying one on at the Goofy Goober Ice cream Palace in order to drown his sorrows. In the meantime, Plankton, their evil little competitor, has come up with his very last plan to get the Krabby Patty formula, and steals Neptune's crown.
The next morning, SpongeBob arrives hung over to work, to discover his boss, Mister Krabb, begging for his life before an enraged King Neptune who is threatening to fry him on the spot if his crown is not returned.
SpongeBob gallantly offers to get the crown back in return for his boss' life. Neptune reluctantly agrees after his daughter Mindy convinces him and he and Patrick set off.
Plankton, at last, finds himself free, takes the formula and begins his next step in enslaving all Bikini Bottom to his will and sends a cruel assassin named Dennis after SpongeBob and Patrick.
On the way, they meet thugs and monsters and meet up with Dennis, who is crushed underfoot by the Monster guardian Cyclops who takes Pat and SpongeBob back to Shell City, his lair, in order to kill and make knickknacks out of them.
They escape and when they lose the bags of winds that Mindy gave them to get home, they are rescued by an unlikely man, David Hasselhof, who swims with them back to Bikini Bottom.
On the way, though, they are once again accosted by Dennis, who wasn't as dead as they thought and they finally win their fight with him and return the crown--only to find their problems were not over, for now, they have to defeat Plankton, who has enslaved all of Bikini Bottom, along with King Neptune and rescue their friends from his devilish plot.
How that happens, one must see I remember when this movie came out when I was 6 or 7. I loved it and now my son loves it too.
Who doesn't love spongebob? My son just turned 2 and this was the first movie where he actually sat through the entire thing.

One person found this helpful. Everyone in the family can enjoy this as it has children's favourites SpongeBob and Patrick who go on an adventure, meeting various creatures and misfits along the way, learn to surf and take a ride on David Hassellhoff's back.
Needless to say it is an animated movie that children will love to watch and adults can enjoy along with them.
Report abuse. Found this on amazon when i was browsing around for affordable christmas presents. She was over the moon when she opened her present on xmas day and saw Spongebob's bright yellow face, and enjoyed the movie alot!
She laughed through out most of the film and was happy to see most of her favourite characters including Squidward and Patrick also in the movie!
